– LIVING ROOM –
So as you probably know after this post, I recently moved to London, hence why there wasn’t much activity on the blog. It was more stressful than I thought it was going to be. I didn’t even think about all the things that needed to be done when moving abroad; new bank account, wifi, new mobile number and finally calling everywhere to say that you recently moved. Well now that I am a bit more settled, I am back with some exciting things. In the first week I had a lot of admin stuff to do but I also took the time to decorate my apartment and I am so so happy with the results. Thanks to my mom who was so kind and helped me with the move I managed to have a cosy flat in under a week. Living on the second floor, there was a lot of walking up and down and carrying stuff – boxes, suitcases, mirror, decoration,… .
Everything was so exciting, I was really looking forward to decorate and furnish my first flat, getting to choose everything from cutlery to towels, I loved it! When I first entered the flat back in August I remember the ‘this is the one’ feeling and now that I have decorated how I like it, I feel even more comfortable in it. It instantly felt like home in it and it hasn’t changed now that I really live there. I mean I still can’t believe that this is my new home and that I now live in this city, it still feels like a dream.
Now onto this post, I thought about making a little series of different parts of the apartment, so this article is all about the ‘living room’ which is to be honest just the main room of the flat but feels like a living room – for your information, I don’t live in a five bedroom flat! I got the majority of the things at H&M HOME, they’ve got so many amazing things at the moment, I absolutely loved everything and the 20% student discount was also really helpful to be honest! The things aren’t excessively expensive and they look so good! The sofa was already in the apartment, the only thing I did with it was cover it with a dark grey fabric – you never know who sat on it before! I wanted the sofa to be the centre piece of the room so I bought some nice cushions and throws to add a bit of colour and make it special. I love the fact that when you enter the room, it is the first thing that you see and it immediately invites you to sit down and make yourself feel like home.
The table, oh I love it. I knew that in my first flat I had to have it, I saw it so many times at IKEA and every time I wanted to buy it, now the time has finally come and I am chuffed! It was a bit of a struggle to get it to be honest, going to IKEA without a car and arriving in the parking lot by foot was definitely a first for me and a bit weird. We then had to get an Uber to bring the things back to the apartment but hey we did it and now I have this amazing table.
There are still some bits and bobs to change, like putting some more prints on the walls and maybe getting a bigger candle (Oh Dyptique I am looking at you) but for the moment I love it. The eucalyptus was a must, it instantly makes a place look more alive and cosy, I decided to take a Kombucha bottle as a vase and really like the effortless outcome. So here is the first part of the home, I hope that you like it as much as I do and that it inspires you for your home.
